iPadre #170 – Allegiance to the King

At the end of every Liturgical Year, we celebrate the Feast of Christ the King. In this celebration, we learn who our King really is and what He demands. Today’s show is based on the discussion between Pilate and Jesus. What kind of King is Jesus, and what does He want from us? Pilate and many people in today’s world have something in common. They embrace his philosophy, even if they don’t know it!

I am deeply sadened to hear such comments from you Father. While I agree with your opinion on support for women who suffered from abortion I totally disagree in the way you address some of these issues. I am sadened to hear you detail homosexual as having a disease. Things have evolved since the old days when people were thinking that you become a homosexual like catching the flu or having some kind of depravation.

As much as you think you are promoting tolerance in your podcast your message was sure having a heavy underton of hate. Those individuals that are facing those difficult situation, such as abortion, no one can or should judge except our lord.

Me and my wife have several friend who are homosexuals and lesbian and they live their live according to god. the catholic church should be a beacon of love and acceptance (no matter what you are) like our Lord taught us.

  I want to thank you for your comment, however, I do not think that you heard me correctly in this last episode. What I said is that same sex activity is a “disorder”. We must love the sinner, but hate the sin. Everything I said is consistent with the constant teaching of the Church. The Catechism of the Catholic Church tells us: “Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that “homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.” (CCC #2357) It goes on to say that the “inclination”, is “objectively disordered”. Put in very simple language, “God created them Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve”. Man and woman were created to compliment one another. This is why “a man leaves his father and his mother and cleaves to his wife, and they become one flesh” (Gn 2:24). It is so plain to see that on a physiological level, man and women were made for one another. It doesn’t work with two men or two women. They can have a disordered “sexual experience”, but never procreate as intended by nature.

Ave Maria Ivan Tretia. In response to your complaint of Father’s talk on homosexuality, and as a former lesbian and devout Catholic I disagree with you. Father did NOT say homosexuality was a disease he stated it was a “DISORDER”. The Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) states clearly that this is a disorder. There were no undertones of hate in his presentation.

I find it very edifying to read that you have friends with SSA (Same Sex Attraction) and that they live a life “according to God”. If they indeed are living chaste lives God Bless them, for like myself, they are a minority. The CCC states clearly that individuals whether heterosexual or homosexual must live chaste lives which means no sexual activity or acts of impurity. Heterosexuals or homosexuals who do NOT live chaste lives (of course out of the confines of normal marriage) are in grave sin. Jesus teaches us to love the sinner and hate the sin. We as Catholics are suppose to be harbingers of
the truth done with charity.

As a public speaker I have stated over and over again in my testimony how Jesus showed me His Truth when I started reading Romans 1:18-32. I was living an active homosexual life at the time and I knew when I read these verses a line had been drawn in the sand. I had the choice of either staying behind the line and continuing living a sinful life OR step over the line and start living a chaste life. I choose to step over the line and
change my life around. I started praying to Our Lord and Heavenly Mother to heal me from that lifestyle and they answered my prayers. On the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1998 I was totally healed of SSA. Not only was I healed of SSA but of alcoholism. I’ve never looked back! Now I know that this last paragraph is out of the scope of your comments but I felt the need to share a brief glimpse of my journey. I want to let individuals with SSA know there is HOPE. If you turn to the Lord for help and healing with a sincere heart (Ps 66:16-20) HE will indeed come to your aide for NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE of the Lord.

It is true. According to the CCC Fr. and Elaine are right. I may go to hell for this but I think the CCC is somewhat wrong. I guess that makes me a bad catholic but in our society (Canada) we heva learned to accept these differences and I truly believe that whatever they do wrong ( i.e: the Sin of being homosexual according to the CCC and the holy bible) our Lord Jesus Christ should be the only judge (isn’t he after all ?). If these Gay and Lesbians are living their life as close as they can to the teachings of Christ I cannot see them as being more sinners then pedophiles, murderers, fraud, extorsion, physical or psychological violence, etc.

I guess what I am trying to say it that they are sinners like us. Their sin may be bigger, but they remain children of Christ. I humbly cannot judge them and blame them for what they are. I say let our Lord judge them according to his own judgement when the time will come. Until then I say let’s welcome them and accept them as they are: members of Christ church.
