Changing candles at St. Peter’s Basilica

Did you ever wonder how they change the candles on the main altar at St. Peter’s? How to move one of those big candle stands must be a task in itself. On my recent trip to Rome, I got the answer after celebrating Mass while returning to the sacristy.  As as I passed by the high altar, I was surprised by what I saw.  As they say, “a picture is worth a thousand words”.  Thanks to my iPhone, I snapped the following picture.
