I understand his point about eternal affairs of the soul being infinitely more important than temporal affairs like material poverty and the environment… but shouldn’t we care a little bit about such things and at least try to make a difference? Also, I feel his attack on the “liberal staffers” of the USCCB is indicative of a growing hostility to our Bishops when they take a position on some issue that is often associated with political liberalism, like they recently have on gun control and universal access to healthcare. While such issues are indeed in the realm of prudential judgement, I feel holy obedience demands we should at least consider what our Bishops are saying. I agree with some of Mr. Voris’ points, but I feel this video caters to a very political and unproductive part of ourselves. You’re always in my prayers, Father. God bless you!
