Here are some pictures of the Solemn High Pontifical Mass at the Cathedral of Saints Peter & Paul on May 4, 2014. Pictures were taken by Mark Garrepy. This Mass was requested by The Most Reverend Thomas J. Tobin, Bishop of Providence, as one of the events to celebrate the 125 Anniversary of the Cathedral of Saints Peter & Paul in Providence, RI. It is the first Pontifical Solemn High Mass since to take place in our cathedral since 1968. Celebrant of the Mass was The Most Reverend Salvatore Matano, Bishop of Rochester and native son of Providence. The event was organized by Fr. Jeremy Rodrigues, Administrative Secretary to the Bishop & Director of the Office of Worship. Our cathedral holds 1,500 people and it was pretty full. Music for the Mass included: “Mass in G” by Franz Schubert and the music of Aichinger, Viadana, Handel and Mozart. The Gregorian Chant Choir and Orchestra with Msgr. Anthony Mancini, Conductor and Mr. Philip Farone, Organist.
