God’s Mighty Servant – Sister Pascalina Lehnert, Secretary of Pius XII
God’s Mighty Servant is the story of Sister Pascalina Lehnert, Secretary of Pope Pius XII. This is the story of a woman with great determination to do God’s will, a woman of great fidelity, and a personal friend and confidant of the Holy Father. From beginning to end, the movie is riveting. Bishop Eugenio Pacelli was so impressed with Sr. Pascalina, that it formed a bond between them that lasted from the time of he served as nuncio to Germany in 1917, until his death in 1958. Although the movie is in German with English subtitles, it is so well done, that the subtitles seem to disappear. In fact, I think the German adds to the movie. This movie will give another view to the life of Pope Pius XII and this wonderful woman who accompanied him for over forty one years. I would also recommend this movie to those who feel the Church downplays the role women. At a time when women had no role in the Vatican, Sr. Pascalina is recognized as the most powerful woman in Vatican history. I give this movie top ratings. The acting was superb, the story was gripping.
