It’s Insane

IPadre Catholic Podcasting Posted on January 8, 2010 by Fr. Jay FinelliJanuary 8, 2010 6

Over three years ago, I purchased a brand spanking new HP Color LaserJet Printer.  This is a real good print.  It even prints high quality color photos.  With the right paper, they come out near perfect.  About two months ago, … Continue reading →

IPadre Catholic Podcasting Posted on December 18, 2009 by Fr. Jay FinelliDecember 18, 2009 1

Today, Zenit had a section on “Liturgical Vestments and the Vesting Prayers”.  Following my trip to Mundeline this past June for training in the Extraordinary Form of the Mass, I began saying the vesting prayers daily as I prepare for … Continue reading →

IPadre Catholic Podcasting Posted on December 13, 2009 by Fr. Jay FinelliDecember 13, 2009 5

Recently, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, in an overwhelming majority, gave final approval to the new translations of the Roman Missal for use in the United States and English speaking countries.  This translation process has dragged on for … Continue reading →

The Church and politics

IPadre Catholic Podcasting Posted on December 3, 2009 by Fr. Jay FinelliDecember 3, 2009 2

How often have you heard it said, or maybe, you have even said, “The Church has no business in politics!”  I hear it all the time.  Even good Catholic people tell me the Church should not talk about politics.  Just … Continue reading →

What Makes a Church?

IPadre Catholic Podcasting Posted on November 30, 2009 by Fr. Jay FinelliNovember 30, 2009 1

I was struck by the headlines: “Church sermons include time, place for congregants to get tattoos“.  There is “The Church of Euthanasia”, “The Church of Body Modification”, “The Church of Light”, “Church of Seven Planes”.  Then, there is the “1st … Continue reading →

Invocation of the Holy Spirit

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Thy faithful and enkindle in them the fire of Thy love.

℣. Send forth Thy Spirit and they shall be created.
℟. And Thou shalt renew the face of the earth.

Let us pray.

O God, Who didst instruct the hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit, grant us in the same Spirit to be truly wise, and ever to rejoice in His consolation. Through Christ our Lord.

or in Latin

Veni, Sancte Spiritus, reple tuorum corda fidelium: et tui amoris in eis ignem accende.

℣. Emitte Spiritum tuum, et creabuntur.
℟.Et renovabis faciem terrae.

Oremus.

Deus, qui corda fidelium Sancti Spiritus illustratione docuisti: da nobis in eodem Spiritu recta sapere; et de eius semper consolatione gaudere. Per Christum, Dominum nostrum.
