Will it be white smoke this time?

The iPadre Catholic Podcast Posted on March 13, 2013 by Fr. Jay FinelliMarch 13, 2013 2

Is this a sign? I know the Holy Spirit is usually symbolized by a dove, but there has been a seagull sitting on top of the smoke stack on the Sistine Chapel. In fact, there was another and the current one chased the other off and took his place. Could it be a sign of the Holy Spirit, or maybe the holy Cardinals are disputing who should be the next to sit upon the stack, I mean the throne of St. Peter. We’ll know soon enough, and maybe we won’t!

The Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist are set to display their impressive biblical knowledge as contestants on Season 2 of the Game Show Network’s hit show “The American Bible Challenge,” which premieres at 9 p.m. ET Thursday, March 21.

Sister Peter Joseph (novice), Sister Maria Suso (professed sister) and Sister Evangeline (novice) — will compete as the Team Sisters of Mary on the show. The Ann Arbor, Michigan-based nuns will use any winnings they receive to provide for the futures of the Sisters in the Order, and to ensure that they are provided for as they advance into retirement.

“‘Twas the Night Before #Conclave” – on Twitter (with apologies to Clement Clarke Moore)

The iPadre Catholic Podcast Posted on March 12, 2013 by Fr. Jay FinelliMarch 12, 2013 2

Here is a great poem, written by my good friend, Dr. Paul Camarata. Paul is host of the SaintCast Podcast. Posted with permission of the author. In an eMail, Paul wrote: “Put this together & just posted to Twitter after my cable Internet just went down. What Would I do without my phone…”

‘Twas the night before conclave & throughout all the nations,
The faithful await with such great expectations… #Conclave

The stoves were attached to the chimney with care,
In hopes that white smoke would soon waft through the air #Conclave

The cardinals were all settled, the last Congregation
Completed that morning, silent for the duration. #Conclave

And the men in their cassocks and biretta caps
Retired for the day, 7 days did elapse #Conclave

The vaticanisti all over the news,
Were silenced as well, so much stuff to peruse. #Conclave

When out on the Piazza there arose such a clatter,
Ragazzi and Ragazze wondered what was the matter. #Conclave

While journalists dined, quenched their thirst by the gallon,
“There goes, Cardinal Dolan,” quipped reporter John Allen. #Conclave

He was dressed all in black with the same Roman Collar,
That one sees here on many a clerical scholar. #Conclave

His droll little mouth was drawn up on the ends,
With the joy of the Lord, and the Love that transcends. #Conclave

“On Scola, on Erdo, on Turkson, O’Malley,”
“Got a big day ahead, can’t be late to the tally!” #Conclave

So off they all walked to their beds far afield,
For tomorrow the doors of Sistine will be sealed. #Conclave

While the world rapt in prayer and in jubilant hope,
Awaits their decision on the new Roman pope. The End #Conclave

Who do I want to become the next Pope?

The iPadre Catholic Podcast Posted on March 10, 2013 by Fr. Jay FinelliMarch 10, 2013 3

pope_whoFor the past few weeks, since Benedict XVI, Pope Emeritus abdicated, many people have asked me who I want to be elected Pope. Others have said they are praying that this Cardinal or that Cardinal would get picked.

The selection process for the election of a new Pope is nothing like our American electoral system.  It is not a contest based on someones looks and proficiency in rhetoric, nor is it someone proposed by the media elites. Regardless of what the media says, there are no front runners. The very rules of election forbid the Cardinal electors “to make plans concerning the election of his (the Pope’s) successor, or to promise votes, or to make decisions in this regard in private gatherings.” They are likewise forbidden to “committing themselves of common accord to a certain course of action should one of them be elevated to the Pontificate.”

The election of a Pope is not a popularity contest. The Cardinals do not hold primaries or any kind of politicking. And, if they do, in my opinion, they are sinning.

The primary purpose of the Papal Conclave is for the Cardinals to pray and seek the assistance of the Holy Spirit in helping them choose the man that is God’s choice.

There is an old saying: “The one who goes into the conclave a Pope, comes out a Cardinal.” The Conclave is a very serious gathering to seek the successor of St. Peter, the leader of the true Church founded and sustained by Jesus Christ.

So, back to the original question. Who do I want to be the next Pope? I do have my opinion of who I would like to see become Pope. In fact, I always wanted to see Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger ascend the throne of Peter, but I thought it would never happen. There are at least three men that I would vote for and one of them is not a Cardinal. And, I won’t tell you who they are. So, what I am doing is praying. I want the man that Our Lord has chosen. He is the man who will lead the Church in these most difficult times. He is the man with the courage and faith of the Apostles. He is the man who is conformed to the heart of Jesus Christ. He is the man who has a loving and compassionate heart, yet will speak the truth without fear. And, only he has the gifts needed to lead the Church in this particular time in history. I want the man chosen by Christ “before he was formed in his mother’s womb.” The man to whom Christ will soon say: “You are Peter and on this rock I will build my Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

Not surprised at all!

The iPadre Catholic Podcast Posted on February 25, 2013 by Fr. Jay FinelliFebruary 25, 2013 14

There is a lot of talk in the media and online about “homosexual networks” even in the Vatican. A Polish priest, Fr. Dariusz Oko release an article on the “Homoheresy“. We were even hit by the news of the resignation of  Cardinal O’Brien, the Archbishop of St. Andrews and Edinburgh. Most people are surprised by this. Even some priests are acting shocked. Since the early 90’s the Church has been hit by lawsuit after lawsuit. Priests and Bishops have fallen from grace, and today a Cardinal is accused of inappropriate behavior some 30 years ago. To all those priests that are in shock, I must say, your head must have been in the sand. Anyone who went through seminary in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s know of the many active homosexuals that walked the halls. Some were put out and others were the fair haired boys. In fact, most of the good seminarians kept their mouths shut, for fear that they would be sent of for psychological evaluation. That’s right, many good men were sent to shrinks or just put of the seminary because they reported being hit on or seeing something that should not have gone on. Thank God the seminaries have been cleaned up, but we are no facing the consequences of those evil years.

Like I said, I’m not surprised at all. Our Lady warned us, no one listened, and now the Lord will clean up the mess Himself.

Let’s have a look at what Our Lady said in Akita, Japan back in the 1970’s.

The work of the devil will infiltrate even into the Church in such a way that one will see cardinals opposing cardinals, bishops against bishops. The priests who venerate me will be scorned and opposed by their confreres…churches and altars sacked; the Church will be full of those who accept compromises and the demon will press many priests and consecrated souls to leave the service of the Lord.

“The demon will be especially implacable against souls consecrated to God. The thought of the loss of so many souls is the cause of my sadness. If sins increase in number and gravity, there will be no longer pardon for them.

So many people are looking for a hidden secret in Fatima, or another part of the secret that was never released. Forget about it! You need look no further than Akita. The apparitions of Akita were approved by the Church after extensive investigation.

Most. Rev. John Shojiro Ito, Bishop of Niigata, Japan, after years of extensive investigation, declares the events of Akita, Japan to be of supernatural origin, and authorizes throughout the entire diocese the veneration of the Holy Mother of Akita.

“On April 22, 1984, after eight years of investigations, after consultation with the Holy See, the messages of Our Lady of Akita were approved by the Bishop of the diocese. In the Japanese village of Akita, a statue of the Madonna, according to the testimony of more than 500 Christians and non-Christians, including the Buddhist mayor of the town, has shed blood, sweat and tears. A nun, Agnes Katsuko Sasagawa has received the stigmata and has received messages from Our Lady.”

Original source is the University of Daton

It is also claimed that Bishop Ito sought the advice of  Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, head of the Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and received definitive approval.

Who would have thought that we would have seen what we see today. The reality that most will not face is that the sexual abuse crisis in the Church was and is still caused by homosexuals in the clergy.  Michael Voris summarizes the situation in his latest issue of The Vortex.

There is still an opportunity to change the situation.

“As I told you, if men do not repent and better themselves, the Father will inflict a terrible punishment on all humanity. It will be a punishment greater than the deluge, such as one will never seen before. Fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of humanity, the good as well as the bad, sparing neither priests nor faithful. The survivors will find themselves so desolate that they will envy the dead. The only arms which will remain for you will be the Rosary and the Sign left by My Son. Each day recite the prayers of the Rosary. With the Rosary, pray for the Pope, the bishops and priests.”

Repentance is not just for those who are doing the most despicable things, it’s for us all! We all need to face Our Lord’s call in this Year of Faith – “Repent, for the Kingdom of God is at hand.”
